Who we are
Wisdom & Widgets is a youth program run by Maple Minaret, a registered Canadian non-profit, at the Islamic Forum of Canada in Brampton, Ontario. This page explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who handles it, how long we keep it, and how you can access or delete it.
Our privacy contact is responsible for how we handle personal information and can be reached at administration@islamicforumonline.com.
Enrollment requests
When you submit an enrollment request, we collect what you enter in the form: each child's first and last name; the primary caregiver's name, phone number, and email address; your answers to the schedule, laptop, and payment acknowledgements; and, if you choose to give them, the name of a referring family, how you heard about us, and any additional notes.
We use this information only to:
- review your request and contact you about enrollment, tuition, and next steps;
- confirm referral discounts;
- run the program for enrolled students; and
- understand, in aggregate, how families hear about the program.
Submitting the form is how you consent to these uses. We do not sell, rent, or share this information for advertising, and we only collect information about a child that we need to run the program.
Who handles your information
Enrollment requests are stored in a private Google Sheet in our organization's Google Workspace account, which only our program staff can access. This website is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard technical information, such as IP addresses, in its server logs to deliver and secure the site. These service providers handle information on our behalf and may store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
Website analytics and campaign attribution
We use Umami, a privacy-conscious analytics service, to understand how people find and use our website. It records information such as pages viewed, referral or campaign information, general device and browser type, approximate location (such as country or city), and a few non-identifying events (for example, that someone started or submitted the enrollment form). Umami does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, does not store your IP address, and never receives anything you type into a form.
For some outreach campaigns, including printed direct mail, we use different campaign links or QR codes to measure how each one performs. When you visit through one of these links, we store a small campaign identifier in your browser for up to 90 days, so that a later enrollment request can be credited to the campaign. It records only which campaign link you used and when -- not who you are, where you live, or which pages you visited. If you submit an enrollment request during those 90 days, that identifier is stored with your request.
We do not use this information to identify individual households, to infer religion or any other sensitive characteristic, or to profile children.
Embedded map
The map in our website footer is provided by Google Maps. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies and receive information such as your IP address, under Google's privacy policy. We do not receive any of that information.
How long we keep it
- Enrollment requests that do not lead to enrollment are deleted 12 months after they are submitted.
- Records for enrolled families are kept for the program year plus 6 years, to meet our financial and record-keeping obligations, and then deleted.
- Website analytics data is deleted after 13 months.
- The campaign identifier in your browser expires automatically after 90 days. You can remove it sooner by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Your rights: access, correction, and deletion
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing administration@islamicforumonline.com. You can also withdraw an enrollment request at any time. We will respond within 30 days. If we need to keep some information for a legal or financial reason, we will tell you what and why.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your concern, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
